From Billie

OK, so I haven't posted again for several months.  A lot has happened since I last posted.  February 9, my sister Patsy and I went to Amarillo to help Mother and Daddy out.  Mother was haveing unbearable pain in her right leg and hip from pinched nerves in her lower back and was to have surgery.  There were some delays and I stayed in Amarillo with Mother and Daddy until April 7.
Mother's surgery was successful and she is doing really well.  God was faithful and answered the prayers of all who were praying for her.

We took a short trip up to Dodge City to see our kids and grandkids there.  Had to make a trip to Wichita, Ks to take care of some business there then back to Amarillo for a couple more days.

We got back down to Victoria late on the 7th.   We drove through country that should have been covered in wild flowers and bluebonnets.  There were very few flowers of any kind. I was disappointed.  Last Saturday we took a drive over one of the routes, that according to Texas Highways should have been covered in bluebonnets, Indian blankets, evening primrose, and other wildflowers (OK so they are just weeds) But it's just been too dry for many flowers.  The locals are also telling me that it got warm earlier than normal and has been hotter than normal for this time of year that what flowers there were were about a month earlier than usual.  So maybe next year we will see wild flowers.

We stopped in Goliad, toured the Mission at the State Park there.  Beautiful place. (Would have been more beautiful if there had been more wildflowers).
Then went into the town to see the town square.  Beautiful old court house. Ate lunch at the Hanging Tree Restuarant.  A lot of Texas history there.  In fact most of these little towns down here have a lot of Texas history about them that I remember reading about in JR High when we studies Texas History.

When I got back to Victoria, the church choir was working on the Easter Pagent.  The music director got me a CD of the choir pieces and everyone just insisted I could learn the music---so I've been listening to this and going to the practices.  Even Lydell is in the pagent as one of the disciples.  We have had practice every night this week, with dress rehersall on Friday night.  Performances Saturday evening and Sunday morning.  Wow!!

Next week we will be busy getting everything read for traveling again. For about the next 6-7 weeks we will be moving a lot from place to place.  About the middle of June we will go to Colorado where we will stay (because the gasoline prices are too high) until the middle of September when we will start back south.

Lydell will keep you more up-to-date than I have done.

Until next time---God bless you each and everyone that reads our blog posts.

  1. UH Have I died or has Hell froze over or something?
You did say Dad was going to be in the Easter Pagent at Church?
I'm shocked to say the least, but I am also very glad, proud, impressed, happy. I know he'll do great! I wish I could be there to see it. Hey are they going to record it? If they do see if you can get a copy I would really love to see it!

    Love to you both
