January 14, 2013

We've been in Victoria for 2 months now.  We are back at Lazy Longhorn RV Park.  We enjoyed it so much here last year that we came back.  There are about 15 other couples that are also back from last year.  It is really great to see all these people again.

We did go to Dodge City for Christmas to see all our children and grandkids.  Had a really great, all be it a short, visit with them all. Lydell got sick with a sinus infection while we were there.  Left there before they got a dump of snow and cold.

The past two weeks have been most cloudy, rainy, and cool here in Victoria.  We have gotten close to 7 inches of rain which will mean another spring of beautiful wild flowers.  This rain has been very badly needed and could use more.  However, this woman needs some sunshine.  I'm like my solar powered lights---I need sunshine  to recharge my batteries and my batteries are getting pretty low.

Lydell spends a couple of hours a day down at the club house visiting with the other men in the park.  I read, catch up with email and Face books, crochet, watch TV, clean, cook and do laundry.  This retired life in wonderful.

We are enjoying being back at First Baptist Church, Victoria.  Our Sunday Class is a great group of people and we have a great time studying God's word and fellowshiping.  The pastor teaches and preaches God's word and leads the church to follow Gods teachings.  The music is a good mix of traditional and contemporary. The people are a loving, friendly family.  A great example of what a church is to be.

A great start to this new year of 2013.

As Lydell would say " Catch ya later alligator"

November 15,2012

We had a really good month in Amarillo.  We spent most of our time with Billie's parents.  Mostly just hanging out with them.  Did do a few things for Mother that she wanted to get done.  Lydell spent some time takeing Daddy around--just getting out of the house.  We went to a WTAM football game. Got to spend some time with my sister that lives in Amarillo.   She and her husband are going on a cruise with us in February, so we did some planning for a couple of excursions.

From Amarillo we drove to Cisco, Tx. and spent a couple of days visiting friends in Breckenridge and Cisco.  It's always good to see "old" friends.  We drove from Cisco to Victoria today.  We are at the Lazy Longhorn RV Park again for the winter.  We like the park and the people here.  Just while we were setting up we saw 4 couples that were here last year and we know of a couple more that plan to be here before Christmas.  Like comeing home.  When I posted on Facebook that we are here, I had several people from our church here welcome us back.  We do love our church family here!

Time passes so quickly.  It's hard to keep up some times.

Dodge City,September 2012

Hi yall.  We are back in Dodge City visiting family and friends on our way through Amarillo back to Victoria for the Winter.  Had a great Summer in Loveland with a side trip to Custer S.D. to see all the sites.  We had some bathroom floor repairs done in Loveland and on the way here the LR slide popped the shear pin on the mechanism that moves the room in and out.  Hope to have it fixed here in DC.  We are anxious to get back to our church family in Victoria for the winter.  Not excited about the rise in living expenses there with all the oilfield drilling and tight living spots.  Food and other living expenses are rising rapidly with all the big money there.    Well.  Will close for now.  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR !

God is Good

Well we got back from SD in good shape.  Had a great time.  It is good to be retired.  I can get up and drink coffee in the morning.  We can go into town and eat at a restaurant in the evening every once in a while.  God has provided money to live in a nice motorhome and keep the maintenance up.  He has given us good health, even better than some.  We have 4 loving churches we consider our home and many good friends.  We can witness for The Lord as He brings opportunities to us.  We have met many, many good friends while traveling. Most of the people we meet are just like us. Most are fed up with obama and his government beauracy.  I pray we can have a change this fall in our leadership.  I know He is in charge.  I have a great wife and companion to share the road with.  Will until He calls me home.  Great kids and grandkids.  Not much more a man can ask for ! Just remember.  The best things in life are not things !!  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR.

Bluebonnet Trail and Adventure

Well today we have three weeks left in Victoria before we start the trip back to Colorado for the summer.  We went on a cross country trip looking for flowers and had quite an adventure.  Cross country, navigating like Billie's Dad does.  What an adventure.  We saw bukuu flowers and had a reward at the end.  Great meal at Bubba's in Sea Drift.  Ended up the day swimming and relaxing in the hot tub at the RV park.  You can follow our trip in our Facebook page. New Year

Well.  The new year is here again.  Where did the last year go??  Went so fast.  Every year goes by faster !!!!  Or so it seems.  We had a great time being with family this last Christmas.  It was  pretty cold, though.  We both got sick.  Not used to the cold anymore.  Even had to buy coats, hats and gloves.  I am glad to be back in Victoria.  My daily wardrobe is shorts and tee shirt.  Beautiful winter weather.  Today we go to the retirement party for a good friend, John Legg.  I am happy for both of them.  Dottie, his wife, will be surprised having him home.  They will have a great time.  Billie and I have loved being retired and on the road, even if we don't have a lot of money.  We get by on what we have. Isn't that the way is has always been? John makes custom Golf putters and they both go on the road together selling them.  What fun.  We love meeting new friends at the RV parks where we stay.  Retirees in these parks are just like us.  Scarry thought, I know.  Well time to sign off for now.  Just remember, life is uncertain, eat dessert first. ;) ;)  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR !!!!!!!

Merry Christmas

We have been in Dodge City since Sunday the 18th.  Monday we had a bit of a blizzard here in Dodge.  Not as bad as just west and North of us in Scott City, Ks.  They had about 18 inches of snow with winds up to 35-40 MPH.

Monday night our daughter Melanie and her tow children-Kylee and Tucker- came over to our daughter Mishcelle's--where we are staying--just in case the electricity went out. Mischelle has a generator.  We had so much fun!! Mischelle made three different kinds of fudge.  YUMMMMM!!!!!!! And we played a new word came Appleletters. This was fun.

Tuesday---Melanie, Kylee, Tucker and I made sugar cookies while Mischelle was at work.  After supper we all worked at decorating the cookies we baked.  What fun!!!!
LOVE, LOVE this time of year spent with family.

Mr and Mrs Claus also made an appearance.

Lydell's shirt says, "Does this shirt make me look fat?"

Wishing you all a very Merry CHRISTmas and a Blessed New Year!

Merry Christmas

We are still in Amarillo for Christmas with Billie's folks.  We have had a good time.  I think we are going to see the new Sherlock Holms movie with Robert and Patsy when it comes out.  Will probably go to Dodge City this weekend for Christmas with the kids.  It will probably be colder there.   That 60-70 deg. weather in Victorial sure looks good now.  Hope we don't have any ice or snow on the way up to DC.  Will post more later.  I hate to run-on so.  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR !!

Update

Well guys.  It has been a while.  We are being bad today!  Stayed home from Church.  Three long trips this week and I just barely got out of bed.  Billie is still sleeping.  It seems to be harder to get up as I get older.  Why is that ?  I made two trips to San Antonio, Tx. this week to the D.A.V. to get some paperwork done.  One trip to Houston, Tx. to see my old college , football roomate.  Stephen and I roomed together at West Texas State University in 1966.  We were a unique pair. I tend to think of mydelf as the NORMAL one. :)  I met Stephen and Virginia in Houston.  They have led an exciting life working in Washington DC for the Govt.  Stephen has traveled all over the world.  Me.  Not so much.  Just a boring, balding, fat old guy!!  Billie didn't get to go.  She had gone to a Woman of Faith Conference in San Antonio.  Back to San Antonio !!  What's up with that ?  She came home all excited and had a great time.  Vriginia probably will be back to Houston to see the kiddos soon and We will go up to see her so Billie can " Remember Old Times " also.  Today will be in the 80s with high humidity.  How can we have so much humidity and no rain??????  I have things to do today but think I will just lay around , rest up and watch football. I can sleep pretty well during tha Pro-Football games.  They are getting "SO BORING! MUSSENT HIT THE QUARTERBACK"!!!!!!!!!!  We love to watch College games.  They are fun.  So much going on.  Like the streaker dressed up as a referee last weekin the Az.- UCLA game.  At least I think it was that game.  Had not seen that for a long time.  Well I am getting bored writing so I will close for now.  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR!!

'bout time to leave

Well.  Here it is Sept.  Almost my birthday.  Received my happy 65 th. birthday letter from the good ole USPS.  My life insurance premiums are going up $82 a month, along with other things.  So much for change from good ole obama. Today is very cool for this time of year.  Got into the low 50s last night.  I even thought about turning on the heater, except for the price of electricity and propane.  It has been in the 90s here for a while.  I know that is cool compared to Tx. and surrounding states.  We are getting close to our date for leaving on the 22nd. of Sept.  Will start getting things cleaned  up in the next few weeks. Some of our friends here have started leaving and heading South already. Will head  back South and end up in Victoria Tx. for the winter by mid. October. We are staying at the Lazy Longhorn RV park this time.  Could not get a place in the park we stayed in last year.Lots of Winter Texans an construction workers in the area.  Our new park looks nice and it is only about 1/ 2 mile South of our old park. Well better close for now.  SEEYALATERALLIGATOR .

Bertha repaired

Well today is Aug. 30.  Thursday  will be three weeks until we leave Loveland for our pilgrimage South ending up in Victoria Tx. for the winter.  Yesterday we got Bertha repaired from the July hail storm.  God took care of us again.  The actual repairs didn't cost as much as the estimates. We had $22 left over so after we got home and showered we got to go out to Golden Corral for supper.  I even stopped short of getting full.  Wow!!!   We are just going to lay around, so what's the diff., and recoop. today.  Will get to see the kids many more times before we leave.  God has been good to us on our GREAT ADVENTURE and we have had many great experiences and met many good people.  Neither Billie nor I have ever regretted our decision nor  would have missed it for the world.  We are looking forward to the many people we will meet as we continue our travels. I figure we will have to stop traveling  when we get too old, in about 40 yrs., or when the Rapture comes.  Until then, the beat goes on !!! SEEYALATERALIGATOR !!!!!
